ZWO OAG-L Large Off-Axis Guider with 1.25" Holder # OAG-L

Description: Description Ordering Info USA Shipping International Orders Returns Our eBay Store 1. PRODUCT DESCRIPTION Lightweight and 17.5mm thick Prism size: 12x12mm The effective light-passing aperture is 11.7mmx8.3mm Can be used to connect the main camera and guide camera simultaneously. No guide telescope required. Packaged with an M48 sensor tilt plate (5mm) PLEASE READ: Visit the compatibility section below carefully to make sure the OAG-L is right for your imaging train. This item is often ordered by mistake because LARGE is not necessarily better. The OAG-L is not necessary for 4/3" or smaller sensor cameras and the standard ZWO Off-Axis Guider with 1.25" Holder and M48 / M42 Threads # OAG may be a better choice for you. Please vist ZWO's webpage Best Solutions for 55mm Back Focus for examples of various imaging train setups using ZWO gear. The ZWO OAG-L is short for off-axis guider - large and is designed specifically for ZWO full frame and some APS-C sized cooled cameras. The ZWO OAG-L is the ideal choice for serious astrophotographers who need the most sensitivity they can get for detecting guide stars. The OAG-L features an increased prism size of 12x12mm, giving a wider field of view for detecting a guide star than ZWO's standard OAG. The OAG-L is best paired with ZWO's top end guide camera, the ASI174MM Mini (PAIC-ZW-ASI174MM-MINI), which has a similar sized sensor as the prism on the OAG-L. The large pixels on the ASI174MM Mini paired with the OAG-L's large prism essentially guarantees you will be able to find a guide star, even when imaging in heavy light pollution, using a slow focal ratio telescope, or both. As an upgrade over the standard ZWO OAG, the OAG-L features a helical focuser built in to the design, making it easy to focus your guide camera. Hence, you do not need to buy ZWO's 1.25" helical focuser separately for this OAG-L. Off-axis guiders offer better performance over traditional guide scopes when used on longer focal length systems for three main reasons: Allows you to guide at the same focal length of your telescope which is critical for systems over 1000mm in focal length No guide scope means less weight riding on the telescope, which provides better tracking performance. Eliminates the possibility of flexure (slight sagging of the guide scope caused by gravity, which negatively affects guiding) ZWO OAG-L Compatibility The OAG-L is currently natively compatible with the following cameras without the need for any additional adapters. Please see the product images at the top of this page for how to configure it with your camera. ASI6200MM-P & ASI6200MC-P ASI2400MC-P ASI2600MM-P & ASI2600MC-P ZWO OAG-L with Smaller Format Cameras The ZWO OAG-L is not compatible with ZWO's M42 Filter Drawer, meaning it is not usually practical for most astrophotographers using smaller sensor cameras. For those users, we recommend ZWO's regular OAG (PAPI-ZW-OAG) and the helical focuser (PAF-ZW-HF1.25) to go with it. However, for those users who just want to use the ZWO OAG-L without a filter drawer, this is possible with the addition of ZWO's M54 15mm Adapter (PAPI-ZW-D70-M54F). Please see the product images at the top of this page for how to configure it with your camera. The ZWO OAG-L is not compatible with the Pegasus Astro Indigo Electronic Filter Wheel. ZWO OAG-L Compatible Guide Cameras For guiding, the OAG-L can only work with ASI Mini cameras. It is not compatible with ZWO planetary cameras that lack the "Mini" moniker. ASI174MM Mini ASI290MM Mini ASI120MM Mini How to Connect the ZWO OAG-L Please see the product images above for full details on how to connect the ZWO OAG-L with your specific imaging train. The ZWO OAG-L is 17.5mm thick, making it easy to connect to other ZWO accessories and retain a standard 55mm back focus. Depending on the size of the rear threads on your telescope or corrector, the OAG-L can use one of three tilt adapters to connect to it: M48 tilt adapter (included with OAG-L) If the thread on your telescope side is M48, then you don’t need to remove the M48 sensor tilt plate that comes with the OAG-L. M54 tilt adapter (included with ASI6200 & ASI2400 cameras) If your telescope side threads are M54, ZWO offers an M54 sensor tilt plate (PAPI-ZW-M54-PLATE). This tilt adapter plate is already included with the ASI6200MM Pro, ASI6200MC Pro, and ASI2400MC Pro cameras, so if you have one of those cameras there is no need to purchase the extra tilt adapter. You only need to purchase this tilt adapter plate if you are using the ASI2600MM Pro or ASI2600MC Pro and have a telescope with M54 threads. M68 tilt adapter Lastly, ZWO also offers a tilt adapter plate with M68 threads (PAPI-ZW-M68-PLATE) for telescopes with larger rear threads. On the camera side, the ZWO OAG-L features a bolt-on style connection that will bolt directly onto the ZWO 7x2", 5x2", and 7x36mm filter wheels or the ZWO M54 15mm Adapter (PAPI-ZW-D70-M54F) mentioned above. ZWO OAG-L Additional Info and Tips Considering the large prism size, we don’t recommend you use the OAG-L with telescopes whose clear aperture is smaller than M48. The major differences between OAG-L and the now discontinued M68 OAG are the prism size and the threads. The OAG-L removed the inner threads so you can directly use the screws to connect it to ZWO 2" and 36mm filter wheels. While adding OAG-L into your optical train, please make sure the prism won’t block the camera sensor. You can use the guiding screw to adjust the guiding camera’s focus length. Please make sure the distance from the prism to the main camera and to the guide camera are the same. To ensure the result, it is better to do this at daytime for the adjustment will be very difficult at night. China Note: Occasionally, the product you receive might have a slightly different cosmetic appearance or labeling than what is shown. This can often change from batch to batch according to the whims of the manufacturer. However, you will always receive a brand new, original product as described above. Back to Top 2. Delivery Time: USPS First Class shipments will generally take 3-5 business days to arrive after we ship it. Priority Mail shipments will generally take 2-3 business days. However, these delivery times are NOT guaranteed by the USPS. Delays of up to 2 (or sometimes even 3) weeks can occur in about 5% of the shipments due to Covid, operational, or other issues. UPS shipments will generally take between 1 and 6 business days to be delivered depending on the method you select. USPS and UPS do NOT offer any refunds for shipping/delivery delays for ANY reason (except for UPS Next Day Air service). Delays are out of our control once your order ships. B. Tracking/Delivery Confirmation:eBay will update you once your order ships. You can see the order status or tracking information/link from your eBay account at any time. C. USPS Tracking Limitations: Please note that is common for USPS tracking to show “Shipping Label Created, USPS Awaiting Item” or “Shipment Received, Package Acceptance Pending” even several days after your order ships. This does not mean that there is a problem with your order or that we have not handed over your package to USPS yet. This simply means that your package is en route without an outbound scan and tracking will not be updated until the package reaches a distribution center at your end several days later. Back to Top 4. INTERNATIONAL ORDERING / SHIPPING A. Shipping Cost: Click on the "Shipping and Payments" tab above and select your country to see your shipping choices and cost. If you need a shipping cost estimate for multiple items, please contact us. B. Delivery Time: Please note that eBay’s delivery estimates shown are generally too optimistic! 1. UPS (All Shipping Methods): We strongly recommend the use of UPS for international orders due to issues related to the ongoing Covid situation. Delivery time usually varies between 3-7 business days depending on your country and the exact shipping method you select. 2. USPS First Class International: First class packages will usually be carried by GlobalPost (a USPS international delivery partner) for most of the way. Delivery at your end will be handled by your local postal service. Delivery generally takes about 3-4 weeks after we ship your package. This can frequently take 4-6 weeks or more for several countries (8 weeks for Italy, Argentina, and South Africa; 8-12 weeks for Brazil). There is very limited tracking available for 1st class shipments and there is no inquiry/tracing service. Once your package ships, we can do nothing but wait until your package arrives. Please do not become impatient and contact us in 2-3 weeks if your package has not arrived. If you don't receive the package in 6-8 weeks, contact us and we will work with you to resolve the issue. If you don't want to take the risk of this delay or lack of tracking, DO NOT USE First Class mail - use Priority or Express shipping, or better still, UPS instead. Packages are not considered lost unless 60 days have elapsed from the date of shipment. 3. USPS Priority Mail International: Delivery takes about 2 weeks to most countries after we ship your package. This can sometimes take 3-4 weeks to several countries. The USPS provides some basic tracking information for Priority shipping. Packages are not considered lost unless 60 days have elapsed from the date of shipment. 4. USPS Express Mail International: Delivery usually takes 5-10 business days after we ship your package. Packages are not considered lost unless 30 days have elapsed from the date of shipment. Again, these delivery times are NOT guaranteed by the US Postal Service. The most common reason for delays is slow customs inspection and clearance in your country, and can be very long, even for Express mail packages. Upon shipping your order, delivery delays are beyond our control, so do not leave us negative feedback or file a claim if your package is delayed. Delays are quite common but losses are very rare, so your patience and understanding will be greatly appreciated. C. Brokerage Fees, Customs and Duties: You are responsible for any carrier brokerage fees and duties/taxes that may be levied in your country. These are not included in our item price or shipping cost. UPS brokerage fees can be quite hefty. We have no control over these charges and cannot predict what they may be or if they will be levied upon delivery. Customs policies vary widely from country to country (Some countries such as UK are strict about imposing hefty customs duties). It is your responsibility to check with your country's customs office to determine what these additional costs will be prior to buying. Customs fees are normally charged by the delivery company or your country's postal service or collected when you pick the item up. These fees are NOT additional shipping charges. Back to Top 5. RETURN/EXCHANGE POLICY A. US Orders: Returns must be shipped back within 30 days. All returned items must be in brand new, resalable condition with original manufacturer’s packaging. A minimum restocking fee of 10% will be deducted if there is any evidence of use or wear, dirt, scratches, missing packaging/parts, etc. We may levy a larger restocking fee if the condition warrants it, or even refuse returns entirely if returned in heavily used/abused condition. Shipping fees are non-refundable (for items with free or discounted fixed shipping, the actual outbound S&H cost we incurred will be deducted) and you are responsible for all return shipping costs. Please contact us first before returning an item. B. International Orders: No returns/exchanges accepted unless the item we shipped is defective. Please research the product and ask us any questions BEFORE you purchase to make sure you are buying the correct item for your needs.
