Description: Yucca Elephantipes - ‘Soft-tip Yucca’ - Spineless Yucca - Yucca Gigantea - Stick Yucca (Live Plant, 10 -18 Inches Tall) Yucca Elephantipes - ‘Soft-tip Yucca’, is a species of flowering plant in the family Asparagaceae native to Mexico and Central America. Yucca plants are known for their sword-like leaves and striking flower spikes. Common names include spineless yucca, soft-tip yucca, blue-stem yucca, giant yucca, yucca cane, and itabo. Yucca's are both indoor and outdoor plants. When grown indoors, they prefer a brightly lit position, preferably a south-facing or west-facing aspect, but they will grow in slightly less well lit conditions. The Yucca Elephantipes is tolerant to drier air, and will thrive in normal household humidity. Grown outdoors, yuccas need a sunny position and good, well-drained soil. Mature plants can grow to 15' - 30'. At about four or five years old they will send up large flower stalks from the center of the foliage in late spring or summer. These stalks can be as tall as 8 feet and are topped with numerous bell-shaped, creamy white flowers that attract butterflies and hummingbirds. The plants sold are pups approx 10-18" tall. There may be minimal roots on the plant because of how this plant grows - it will have a shallow root system at young ages. These will be shipped with bare roots to reduce shipping charges. Its roots will be kept moistened and wrapped for transit.
