Description: This is a Yamaha AE-11 , Vintage Archtop Electric guitar for sale. *SELLING AS-IS *No Refunds/Exchanges/Returns *Please Read Description and se all photos. *ASK QUESTIONS and be satisfied before buying this guitar from me please. *I do all I can to represent all my sale items as accurately and honest as I can , and to answer all questions. *This guitar is a 55 year old instrument , well played and has scratches and other blemishes all over the body and neck. The most noticeable is a crack behind the Tailpiece bottom , at the bottom of the body top. See photo **#4 , for close ups of that pedestrian repair. These AE-11s , Vintage Yamahas are selling for $1,000-$1,200 online. My lower price for this one is based on that now stabalized crack on the bottom top. Read more details about that repaired top crack in the following description ; The AE-11 was produced by Yamaha in Japan from the years 1967-71. I was told the one I am selling is a 1969 model , but I cannot verify that , nor do I see any significant changes in that model during the 5 years it was in production. The Serial #7917 , is stamped on the last fretboard space , if you wish to investigate that year of production detail. Online, the AE-11 wood specs are listed as follows ; **Maple Back and Sides **Spruce Top **Rosewood Fretboard **Nut Width ; approximately 1 5/8" (aprox 42mm). **Scale Length ; aprox 25" (metal zero Fret to High E string crossing on saddle). **Ships with used Hard STAGG Case* ***This guitar includes all thefollowing original hardware of the AE-11 ; the MAXON pickups , Yamaha Tuners , knobs and the *Tailpiece. (*although the *Original Tailpiece is NOT MOUNTED* , it can be viewed in photo #12 of the guitar in the open case , the original Tailpiece , laying flat on the body , next to the replacement tailpiece. **That original Tailpiece and the original bracket and screws all ship with this guitar.**) The *Bridge is a modern , Floating Rosewood Bridge with a Saddle made up of six metal saddles. I substituted a different Trapeze Tailpiece on this guitar , as seen in the multiple photos. This primarily because beneath that original Tailpiece's mounting frame there was a small part of the guitar top that had been crushed at the wood surface. When I bought this guitar about 8 years ago , I noticed that damage. I removed the original Tailpiece and did a surface , very rudimentary repair of that crushed wood area. I have had no issues at all with the stability of this repair. I then replaced the original Tailpiece with the one now mounted and displayed in photos. This because the new Tailpiece on the guitar now puts less pressure on that crushed area than the original and also , the new Tailpiece is significantly lighter than the original Tailpiece. **(You can view that repair up close in photo #4)** I have used the guitar with this new Tailpiece and repaired top crack for over 7 years and the guitar and repair has remained completely stable. I have had Zero playing issues with the repaired crack , or the new Tailpiece installed. And the new owner can reinstall the original Tailpiece if they wish , or sell it as there are probably buyers out there interested in this particular Vintage Hardware. The rest of the issues on the guitar are cosmetic. It has definitely been used and **there are bumps and bruises , as well as small sections of the body and neck surface scraped off throughout the guitar.** The neck is nice and straight and the frets have plenty of life left in them. I have the string height set up at just a hair higher than 2mm at the 12th Fret , on the Treble E side and about 2.8mm on the Bass E side and the guitar playes very nicely and with no buzz on any strings with that arrangement. The guitar is currently set up with .011-.046 Gauge , Nickle Wound , Electric Strings The Pickups are one of my favorite aspects of this AE-11 ! These Maxon pickups have a very unique and warm tone. Very different sounding than the pickups Gibson put on their ES-175 , which is very similar in design otherwise to the AE-11. ***SOLD AS IS*** I have done all I can to describe this guitar , so please ask questions before any purchase is made. *There are no returns , refunds , or exchanges* Shipping to the USA ONLY ! *NO INTERNATIONAL SHIPPING* ***Please Notice ; this guitar will ship USPS** Advantage Ground Class , *NOT the Priority Mail Class ebay lists**(they didn't offer the Advantage Ground Class in options). This Class may take 2-4 weeks to arrive to a Mainland destination. I have never had an issue receiving , or shipping out guitars from Hawaii for 22 years and the guitar will be safely packed. (***The floating bridge will be removed and placed in the case , for new owner to simply slide onto body. This so as to minimize any chances of guitar body injury**) The Shipping is Flat Rate of $114.99 and that won't cover my shipping fees here from Hawaii , but that's part of the Discount I built into the price of this guitar. I am asking significantly less than all the AE-11s I see online because of the small repaired , crushed area of wood I described above. OK Enjoy Dean
