Description: The material here is WWII era, but all relates to, and is from, the estate of Robert J Hunter, MD--an interwar/WWII naval officer who seems to have been the FIRST assigned 'Flight Surgeon" in the US military, in the US Air Service (Army) in WWI. His studio portrait from WWII is included in Naval uniform. Also his 1935 Lt. Commander (Surgeon) promotion document in the Navy. Also his obituary is here, plus a rundown of his career prepared by him, and finally a booklet written by him, originally appearing in the Sept. 1942 "The Military Surgeon" magazine about his service and his claim to the title "first flight surgeon", which seems to be correct. This is Ex-Bob Ford Collection, and Bob seems to have known this man's widow.
