The unpublished photo depicts doughboys in France playing a baseball game with troops looking on along the 1st base line. The original photographer shows a runner scoring with the catcher and on deck batter in the picture. A bat is lying in front of the plate. Of interest, the troops looking on have a mix of helmets and overseas cap indicating the game was played overseas behind the front lines. It looks like, when enlarged, some French soldiers are looking on, also. It is a nice, capture the moment, piece of Americana over there in France. It was removed from an album. The WWI Photo is at least 105 years old in heavily worn condition.
