Description: This is a really rare hat! Constructed of summer light weight ribbed tan-ish wool top that could fit both the European and Middle East (Turkey) service. Black wool band with crimson piping - this would be for the Veterinary corps - not many people served in those units. Original leather visor and lightweight stiffening band correct for crusher. Very light wear, in excellent condition (see pics). Visor is tight, not loose. The summer weight wool is very hard to find in WWI hats and commands a premium. Smaller size approximately a 6 3/4 or 54/55 Euro size. Reference book pictures of a similar hat shown as well (Bavarian Military Museum in Germany) I sold a veterinary officer tunic on Ebay in 2022, this would go perfect with that... I looked for years for a veterinary hat and couldn't find one, finally gave up and sold the uniform... and now, I found the hat, what irony!
