Description: You are bidding on an EXTREMELY RARE used example of a WW2 German Wehrmacht TE6 / 316 / L.Mw. HE (H.E. 1) Direction Finding Radio Receiver! Based on the Luftwaffe HE1 Horchempfänger, this was used b y Army (Heer) units to find a spy transmitter, operating on a specific frequency. This receiver was used together with the EP2 direction finding receiver to find a spy transmitter operating on a particular frequency. Once the frequency was established by listening through the TE6/316, the EP2 would be used in a direction-finding mode to find the compass direction of the transmission. Both the TE6/316 and the EP2 had identical frequency scales and ranges, however the TE6/316 lacks the direction finding hardware of the EP2. These two receivers are often seen in Luftwaffe and Heer radio van configurations that monitored entire districts for spy transmitters. Due to its rarity, there is no specific information published in-regards to it, apart from photos of it being in use (usually photographed with EP2 receivers in radio direction finding vans). The internal metal components are constructed from aluminum, making this unit very light-weight. Made of aluminum and steel, this TE6 / 316 (H.E. 1) Direction Finding Spy Radio Receiver is in EXCELLENT used condition! Though there are some marks, scratches, dents and wear, it still retains 98% of its original wartime paint and finish! The case itself features approx. 90% original field grey paint...with the AMAZING feature being that it was originally painted in FACTORY APPLIED 3-TONE CAMOUFLAGE! The original camouflage paint (consisting of tan, green, and brown) can be seen under the field applied grey paint, as the grey paint has started to flake, making it VERY unique! Probably dating around 1938, it appears to be 100% complete internally, and is mechanically functional, however, I have not tested it for electrical functionality. Should be a good restoration candidate for anyone wishing to get it to work. All switches and dials work as they should (one knob is missing, but that is an easy replacement). Front over is also original to this set, and clearly indicates, "L.Mw.H.E.". Condition matches that of the case, with the original 3-tone factory camouflage seen under the field applied grey paint. Some marks, wear, and dents throughout. Serial number inside the case, matches the one on the main data plate. Also includes a hand-drawn schematic made by the previous owner. I have shown this exact type of radio (Luftwaffe HE1 version) in use in the last image. A VERY RARE radio it would make a FANTASTIC addition to any collection or display!
