Description: An original WW2 era British map of "MERSA MATRUH" (EGYPT) showing the PORT, AERODROME, SEAPLANE MOORINGS, IMPORTANT BUILDINGS etc. Produced in 1937. Ink stamps in the margin show that it was officially retained as a 'UNIQUE COPY' at the British War Office's 'GSGS Map Room', before later being 'SUPERSEDED'. It spent decades in the military archives before being disposed of. Measures 68cm x 54cm. A rare sheet in very good overall condition. Will be shipped in a cardboard tube.
