Description: For sale is a WW1 British 1914-15 Star To KIA Robert William Francis 1st Battalion Essex Regiment. This 1914-15 star is engraved on the back “13133 Pte R W Francis Essex R.” Robert William Francis was born in 1891 in Langford Essex. He was the husband of Jessie Francis, where they lived at Barrington's Farm, Orsett, Essex. Robert entered the French theatre of war on the 24th of august 1915. Robert was serving in Flanders/ France when he was first wounded on the 8th of February 1916 whilst serving with the 9th battalion Essex Regiment. He later returned to the front. Sadly on the 5th of February 1917 Robert was killed in action aged just 26 years old whilst serving with the 1st battalion Essex regiment whilst serving on the western front. He is remembered with honour at the Thiepval Memorial. Robert was entitled to a British war medal, victory medal, 1914-15 star and a death plaque posthumously. Unfortunately only the 1914-15 star is present. Accompanying this medal is 9 scans of his records. Upon payment please let me know if you would prefer digital scans or printed copies.
