This is a true story about a young man soldier serving his country during WWII. While it focuses on his experience in the last phase of the Battle of Okinawa, it includes a personal glimpse into his life's journey through an extraordinary period of history. James was an ordinary young man who never lost the sense of who he was at heart and his faith in God. He grew up in a small rural farming community in southern Indiana during a time when people needed to work hard to just survive. James learned many things that were invaluable for his life's journey, which included surviving the horrors of war. The reader will be intrigued by the stories told in vivid detail, captured through the eyes of this young soldier while serving with the 77th Infantry Division of the army in the Pacific Theater during World War II.
