Description: A very attractive and detailed Victorian double hemisphere map of the World. with additional projections. which was originally drawn and engraved by Edward Weller and published in The Comprehensive Atlas of the World (Glasgow, Edinburgh & London: Blackie & Son, 1884).This is an original late 19th century chromolithograph.Printed area is approximately 49.8cms by 35.5cms (including imprint).The map superficially looks the same as Weller's 1860 version but that had some hand colouring and the later version has additional and amended text details. There is a carefully repaired central split at the foot and one small repaired tear at upper right - the patina of age. I am confident that no seller will match this price.
