Description: Wood & Sons Yuan Oval Serving Plate Rare Coloured Yuan Pattern Hand-Painted Porcelain c1916 Approx 21cm diameter, 27cm wide Preowned used for decorative purposes only; displayed out of sunlight, in smoke-free home. No scratches, cracks or imperfections noted This widely collected blue & white pattern is the work of FREDERICK RHEAD - probably his best-known tableware design. Production was commenced around 1916 this pattern was an oriental design inspired by the 13th century YUAN dynasty (1280-1367). Though this pattern was one of Wood & Sons most famous and produced patterns, this is a rare hand-painted coloured version of the Yuan pattern. Coloured versions were produced in much smaller quantities and are highly collectible and valued. This oval platter is in remarkable condition with no chips, cracks or imperfections noted. There are slight minor signs of age as this platter is over 100 years but nothing that would take away the charm and beauty of this include piece. This colourful and vibrant platter would make an excellent addition to any collection.
