This pattern features smooth edges with no trim, and a Multi-colored Floral pattern over Gray Double Lines. Base on the William Guérin maker's Marks, this china dates to circa 1900-1932. Two sets of maker's marks exist on the back of the saucers. One is a printed green mark of "'LIMOGES' over 'WG& Co.' inside scrolls over 'FRANCE'" attributable to the William Guérin & Company porcelain blanks, before the pattern was finished. This mark was used from 1900 until 1932, and the closing of the business. The second mark, printed in brown, is "'Wm. Guérin & Co.' over "FRANCE' over 'LIMOGES' . This second mark was also commonly used from 1891 until 1932. See photos for both. The William Guérin porcelain story began in 1836. in that year William (Guillaume) Guérin rented a porcelain decorating workshop located in the Faubourg Montjovis (Limoges). In 1872 he bought the porcelain workshop of Lebon & Cie and just five years later the porcelain factory located in Limoges and belonging to Utzschneider. In 1903 the company was joined by Guérin's sons William and Andre. In 1911 W. Guérin & Cie merged with the excellent Pouyat factory creating "anciens établissements J.Pouyat, William Guérin et Cie". William Guérin died in 1912 and his two sons took over management of the company. In 1920 the company was taken over by Bawo & Dotter Ltd. The new firm was named "Guérin, Pouyat, Elite Ltd." From 1927 on, Czechoslovakian and German competition became more and more severe. Then in 1929 the financial crisis erupted, causing more hardship. Finally, in 1932 the Guerin factory was closed. Sadly, archives and thousands of models were destroyed. Thank you for looking! Please feel free to ask any questions and request additional photos prior to purchase.
