Not during the time I knew him on the Star Trek that I was on, but it became very evident on 'The Next Generation' - He was [would] rest on Holidays and he would get a little better, then inexorably the conditions worsened. At the end, his body and his mind had deteriorated. He had come up with this wonderful concept for a television show - He had cast it so well - he wrote several of the pieces and had done a fine job - His legacy is the Star Trek franchise which exists today - Billions of dollars in revenue - He died a rich man in the arms of his loved ones.
