Description: A fine New Hampshire landscape painting by American artist William Jurian Kaula (1871-1953). Kaula was born in Boston, MA and studied at the Mass Normal Art School, the Cowles Art School, the Academie Julian in Paris with Collin, and with Edmund C. Tarbell at the Museum School in Boston. He spent most of his professional life in Boston or New Ipswich, New Hampshire, where he became well known for his landscape, genre, and botanic paintings. Oil on panel, signed lower right, title inscribed on verso “Temple Hills, oil by William J. Kauler (sp) 1871-1953, of Boston and Bank Village, New Ipswich, N.H.” and housed in a rustic gray painted molded frame with white highlight. A small biography is included on verso.
