As a high school football coach and parent of a very aggressive son and current D1 Linebacker I truly believe the 60% reduced weight of titanium masks is just as important to reducing concussions as the new shell/padding technology. Faced with the possibility of my son having to give up football around 5th grade due to recurring head trauma. I did a ton of research on concussions and was surprised and relieved to find out not only the weight difference but how that added weight all hangs off the front of the helmet naturally pulls the head down. This reduced weight is even more important for younger less developed kids and I'm shocked it's not more widely discussed if not mandated. Since switching my sons mask to titanium in 6th grade, sure he's rung his bell a couple times but he hasn't missed a practice or game to head trauma ( Alway worn with currant helmet ). I don't share this information to sell a facemask, I just don't want someone getting concussed or forced to quit playing do to head trauma. Sorry for the rant and thanks for looking.
