Description: Book is in good to very good condition, the cover does show some wear - SEE PHOTOS. Since this is vintage (1986) I consider the cover wear as light - nothing extreme or overly excessive. No rips or tears! No writing, highlights or notes. Books are VERY CLEAN. Binding is solid and tight and pages are very clean. Synopsis: What the Bible is All About for Young Explorers ISBN: 9781606839713 As we study the Bible, it is easy to become so involved in the details that we lose sight of the big picture. This unique resource book is carefully designed to help you explore the Bible in a way that enables you to see how everything from Genesis to Revelation all fits together. As you study each book of the Bible, these features will help you: Information is given about the writer of each book.Special notations list the meaning of the title and the contents of each book. The location of each book within a larger group helps you to find the book easily. An outline and list of the main people in each book help you to see the contents of that book in a nutshell.Time lines let you see when events happened.Summaries of sections within each book show how each section fits into the "big picture". Illustrations show events in detail.Discoveries from the past give fresh insights into the meanings of Bible passages and customs. Book Review: The book is great whether for younger children or an adult! Personally, as an adult, I found it very helpful and informative. There is a chapter corresponding to each book of the Bible plus a couple of additional chapters, such as one which discusses the history of Bible lands during the time between the Testaments. Each chapter contains material describing what is known about the time, authorship, and purpose of the book. An overview is followed by more detailed material. There are lots of graphics: timelines, maps, illustrations, color photos. The material is accessible to students of all ages without being condescending. It will fulfill it's purpose of giving them a good overview of the big picture. The theological stance of the book is moderately conservative Protestant. It takes conservative positions on issues such as authorship and dates. It does not, however, delve into theological distinctives but concentrates on introducing the students to the Bible to facilitate their reading it for themselves. So parents and church workers of many denominations should feel comfortable in using it with their children. Shipping includedShipping weight is 3 lb.
