Description: Here is an early 1980s Westone Thunder II solid body electric guitar in a cool Midnight blue finish, made in Japan in the Matsumoku factory. This one hurts a little to sell! It was my main stage guitar for a couple years and was such an enjoyable ride with great versatility, setup never budged on the road while it lived in its case. I love the slight offset double horn body shape and the neck thru construction. Paired with the Gibson scale gives it a ton of sustain and articulation. It has a medium neck shape with a perfect taper, medium frets with about 80% life, minimal artifacts/buzzing for an old player. The hardware and pickups are Gotoh I believe and top quality and design. I’m a sucker for brass and the knobs and nut on this are supreme. The pickups have huge tonal range, lots of output and remind me of a smoother MFD style/juiced up humbucker sound that is really dynamic if you want to achieve PAF tones or more Fender twang. There is a three way pickup selector switch, master volume and tone with a very musical scaling - the tone control is more of a bass/treble roll off pot with a mid point that clicks nicely. There is a phase switch for some sweet and quacky settings. I always enjoyed dialing in Jerry Garcia tones with this guitar. Not sure if I could ever play a true Alembic style, but this guitar was the scratch to that itch for me! It weighs just under 8 lbs, feels light yet balanced. Minor finish wear, some impressions on the neck (see photos). I will ship it with a fresh set of strings and a basic gig bag.
