Wellington's Campaigns in India contains the entire account of the Duke of Wellington's tenure on Indian soil [1797-1805]. Containing the excitement of myriad events of great political significance towards the growth of the English East India Company in India, like the Mysore War and the consequent fall of Tipu Sultan. This book was available only for official use at the time of publication. The reverse of the front cover has a label which reads: The Property of the Jhansi Brigade Military Library" and "Not to be communicate to the Press" The title page has the statement "For Official Use Only". A map captioned "Wellington's Campaign in India" is in a pocket on the reverse side of the back cover. It is approx. 22" X 26-1/2". CONDITION: This is an ex-lib copy. The top corner of the front cover is stamped 541, the spine is marked in ink, and a white label is affixed to the spine. The boards are half bound in calf over red cloth. The corners and edges are worn and the tips of the corners are frayed. The front cover has a drip stain and red dye has leeched onto the leading page edge. A large fold open map is in a pocket on the reverse of the back cover. The map has 2 tears on one panel. It is creased and has several small tears on the folds.
