Description: An adorable wedding vase made by Jessica Vail, Navajo(Size dimensions given above in specifics) You will receive exactly the item shown in the photo. This item is new & comes with a certificate of authenticity. Please note: this piece is hand engraved but does not have any turquoise as some of the other pieces by this artist. Horsehair pottery is made by unique process unlike any other type of pottery. First the piece is formed, then burnished. The smooth burnished unglazed surface accepts the carbon markings best from the horse hair with the strongest effect. The piece is then fired in a raku kiln between 1300 & 1800 degrees F Once the correct temperature is reached, the incandescent pottery is removed from the kiln using special long tongs & protective gear. Once the piece is completely cooled, it is washed to remove any residue. It is then typically waxed to bring out the detailed hand carved design.
