Offered here is a vintage small format music sheet: "Watching My Dreams Go By" from the Warner Bros. Vitaphone Singing Picture, "She Couldn't Say No" sung by Winnie Lightner her portrait photo on the cover, lyrics by Al Dubin, music by Joe Burke, published by M. Witmark & Sons, NY, 1929. This sheet is in very good condition with corner bumps - covers partially separated - initials penciled at the top right! Please note that all of the sheet music we sell is old and therefore may have a light odor and minor soiling or discoloration. All sheet music is shipped in plastic, between stiff cardboard and with delivery confirmation. Winnie Lightner was born Winifred Reeves in Greenport, New York, but was raised in Manhattan's Hell's Kitchen by her aunt and uncle Margaret and Andrew Hansen. She had a successful career in vaudeville and finally made it to Broadway. Winnie Lightner was the first movie performer in history ever to be censored for what she said or sang on screen rather than for anything she did visually. In 1928, she made a Vitaphone short in which she sang "We Love It", "God Help a Sailor on a Night Like This", "That Brand New Model of Mine", and "We've Got a Lot to Learn." A censorship board in Pennsylvania held the release of the film because of the content of Lightner's songs. According to film historian Alexander Walker, "Warners asked the censors to merely pass judgment on the visuals - the censors refused." I ship next business day after payment is received. Please note Buyers from outside of the United States are responsible for any and all duties, tariffs or other fees that YOUR country may impose. Once a package is in the Postal Service hands, I loose control over it. Generally for US shipments you can expect delivery within 3 or 4 business days (or 3-9 for media rate). For non-US shipments, once the package leaves the US, even the USPS looses control over it. I can not predict transit times for these packages. They quite often are held up in customs in the receiving country. Please be patient.
