Description: My Fair Lady…. Charming vintage music/ jewelry box from the 50s. Very good condition for age, some micro chips on black lacquer corner and feet. Front panel some paint loss. See photos. Hand painted with shell inlay. Mirror and velvet lined compartments. No key. Music mechanism by Sankyo works well although a little slow. Imported by Ucago Co. Sankyo (Seiki) started making a small music box mechanism, 9 to 30 teeth, post WWII. The demand for these novel products grew the company to great success. Today the company exists as Nidec Corporation and manufactures products like the spindle motors that power computer hard drives. This novel music jewelry box is more than just an Oriental souvenir— it’s a piece of early Japanese innovation. 7 1/4” x 5” x 4 1/2” 2 lbs
