Description: ~Guaranteed Authentic~ Beautiful vintage 925 sterling silver and rose gold overlay 4-piece Ranger style buckle set (buckle, 2 loops & tip) is marked from ALC Guadalajara, Mexico, made prior to 1948 (see note) and alligator belt. Silver is stamp marked "Hecho en Mexico Guadalajara ALC 925" on the back of the buckle. The weight of the Ranger set is approximately 1 oz, NOT including the silver tip. The back of the strap has a stamp that appears to read: "L Guz T OT . 3/4 $35.00 R). The strap still has the original price of $35.00, a lot of money prior to 1848. Dating Mexican silver: In the first half of the 20th century silver items manufactured in Mexico were marked simply "silver" or "sterling." Usually a location (Mexico or a town name) and silver fineness (925, 925/1000, 950, 980) was included. In 1948, the Government of Mexico promoted the reintroduction of the "eagle mark" to identify the manufacturers of silver items. An "eagle" was stamped with a number associated to a silver manufacturing company. This system proved unsuccessful, as eagle stamps were misused or "loaned" to more than one artist or maker and was abandoned in the 1980s. It was substituted by the "letter and number" system adopted circa 1980 and still in use today. The attached alligator strap belt has a leather backing and double snaps so the belt strap can easily be swapped if you have a different strap you'd prefer. The belt measures 36.5" from strap end to tip. It is .75" wide. Strap end to first hole factory hole at 29" with last factory hole at 33." Additional holes were added at 33.75" and 34.5". Condition: Gently/lightly used with little to no signs of wear. Strap in overall excellent vintage condition with just a slight cracking in one area of the skin. Little use to original holes. Two additional holes were added toward the tip, one of the holes being placed right over the size (appears to say 36). You can choose to keep the belt with the Ranger buckle set or just the buckle, loops & tip and add to your own strap.
