Description: Here we have a scarce, very-vintage, nearly antique, dinner set from Wedgwood (Etruria, England) in the Sunbirds pattern, designed by Sir Charles Holmes (1868-1936) illustrious museum director, artist, and founder of Studio magazine. Includes four 3-piece place settings, all of which are plates. We have more pieces in this pattern available in our store, as shown in the last photo, including two covered bowls, a mustard pot with underplate, platters, soup bowls, and additional dinner and salad/dessert plates, and we're always happy to combine shipping at actual cost. If the eBay checkout fails to properly combine your orders, we will issue a refund for the difference between what you paid to ship items separately and the actual cost of the combined shipping, on the day that we ship your package. (We don't find out the actual cost of combined shipping until we purchase the shipping label.) 12-piece Lot includes:Four Dinner Plates (10 3/8" diameter)Four Salad/Large Dessert Plates (8.75" diameter)Four Bread/Small Dessert Plates (6 7/8" diameter) Maker/Marks: Wedgwood/please see photos Vintage: 1931 Condition: Our photographs reveal the condition best -- please enlarge and zoom in on them, and examine them carefully. We often add graphics such as arrows, circles, and text boxes to our photos to point out things of interest that might be hard to see, such as a price tag or maker's mark, as well as to highlight many condition flaws. Bright, shiny and stunning, with fantastic coloration. No chips, cracks, or silver/gray utensil marks. One bread plate has a tiny flake to the glaze underneath the rim -- see close-up photo. Overall light crazing on all of the pieces, with it being so light on most of the pieces that it can only be seen upon close inspection. We include one photo of the top of each piece in the lot, so enlarging those will show you the extent of the crazing on each. There is some very light staining to the crazing in one small spot on one dinner plate, so light that it's unlikely to be noticed under normal display and use situations. One of the bread plates has some very light staining to all of the crazing. All have a few scattered, completely colorless, light scratches to the glaze, the kind that are visible only when the piece is held up at just the right angle to a direct, bright source of light. We consider funky odors (cigarette smoke, mildew, etc) to be an important part of a condition report. Corndogcache is a 100% non-smoking environment, and we'll let you know if any of our vintage items smell like it (or anything else) from activities they may have been involved in before they came to us.
