Description: This auction is for a vintage copy of Lamb's Tales from Shakespeare by Charles and Mary Lamb. This is part of the "Macmillan's Pocket Classics" series and was published by The Macmillan Company in 1915. The inside cover has a stamp that reads "Omaha High School of Commerce" (Nebraska) and on the opposite side there is the name Albert Brown of Skedee, Oklahoma. An interesting fact about Omaha High School of Commerce, it was one of the first vocational technical schools built with courses in carpentry, electricity and many more hands on classes. It operated shortly before 1900 until 1923 when it was closed down. The back cover has a check out log for this book and on the opposite side is a poem possibly written by one of the students. The poem reads "This little book is as fine as there is, and if you don't like it tis none of my biz". I believe the handwriting belongs to the name Mirna Gothard which is written on the page prior to the poem. The book is in acceptable condition. There is wear and discoloration on both covers. The spine has a visible crease down the middle of it. The binding is loosening but there doesn't appear to be any major damage to the pages. One of the pages has fallen out but it is not torn. There is also some fraying visible on the corners and edges. The book measures at 5 3/4" long and 4 1/4" wide. This is a lovely little book filled with history from both Nebraska and Oklahoma!
