Description: A 1960 Vox AC-15 1x12 combo, fawn in 100% original condition For your consideration a Vox AC-15 circa 1960, 1 x 12 combo amp in fawn covering, (pre copper) Black panel amplifier with Haddon transformers, early split front cabinet, Celestion T3757 grey hammer tone speaker with original RIC cone, round JMI footswitch etc. A text book example of a Version 8, third circuit as per the fine book ‘Vox amplifiers…JMI years’. This is a rare Vox amp (and even rarer this side of the pond) in exceptional original condition. An AC15 with the EF 86 valve richness is the tone that started it all for Vox in Britain at the time. Later spawning the AC30, a classic, which unfortunately could not accommodate the EF 86 valve in its circuit in its most popular iteration the AC30/6. Choosing low noise examples of the wonderful EF 86 valve for the AC30 proved to be too challenging and a compromise was decided upon by Mr Denney with the ubiquitous 12AX7/ECC83. At 47.5 pounds the AC15 single weighs significantly less than an AC30 and not as loud. This amp has the original valves (tubes) and a set of premium NOS tubes including a nice EF86 and a spare. This AC15 is as pictured and described (original, unaltered FOR NOW) and may interest a museum. The new owner has the unique opportunity to either preserve its original patina, components, and functionality as-is, or to meticulously restore it to working condition Speaker info: Celestion T3757 grey hammer tone speaker with original RIC cone RIC 1MF cone, Date code 20 ?E 20th day of ? Month , 1960 Alnico, 15 watts handling, 8ohms, hammertone/oyster finish. The Original cone is in excellent condition and sounds great by itself. This was the immediate precursor of the Celestion "blue" (the T530). The principal differences are that the "blue" has a bell fitted over the magnet, and naturally is blue in color, speaker weight is 9 pounds 8 oz. Because the amp is currently electrically unrestored it has been tested with all precautions taken, (current limiter @105 volts as specified) and works (has potential) it is sold as is. This is one of the cleanest examples to come on sale in a long time, and yes the dual leather handles are original to the amp. A custom cover is included. Careful and expedited shipping will be assured. Shipping with insurance is quoted. Special shipping requirements can be arranged. Thank you for looking. A non original cover is included. No returns due to being an old amp. Shipping quote is including insurance (through Heritage instruments) to CONUS unless discussed with me in advance. Global shipping through Ebay is available
