Description: This listing is for one 8x10” one-of-a-kind photomontage fine art print depicting a reflection self-portrait captured by artist Vivian Maier. The original film negative captured by Vivian Maier was physically reworked by myself and contact-printed in the darkroom onto 8x10” expired Kodak brand silver gelatin Fiber paper. The other images in the image were captured by Vivian Maier as well. This print is an artist proof so may contain slight “imperfections”. NO RETURNS are offered on this purchase due to its unique nature. Please feel free to reach out with any questions, thank you! About the Art: The negative reworks featured in my eBay and Etsy listings each contain unique photograph/image frames taken from 120 medium format film captured by famous photographer Vivian Maier. The negatives of Maier have been physically manipulated by myself, scanned into digital format, and then reworked further in some cases. The exact image capture dates of the manipulated negative aren't known, though other images from the ARTHoLE Collection date from between roughly 1966-1973. This artwork is part of ViViAN MAiER's PLa$TiC, a series that examines the ethics surrounding the interesting case of famous "Chicago nanny photographer" Vivian Maier. The negatives from The ARTHoLE Collection were purchased by myself off of eBay in 2008/09 to be used by myself in mixed-media artworks. Around 2016 I matched the face in the self-portraits to the name Vivian Maier. Shortly after learning about Maier I had the negatives seen and examined by noted Vivian Maier authority and director of the "Finding Vivian Maier" documentary John Maloof. This meeting occurred in-person on 3/8/2017 so as to confirm authenticity of the negatives from the ARTHoLE Collection and assess their perceived value. Maloof's initial valuing of The ARTHoLE Collection was at roughly $1 per negative for the roughly 1300 medium format negatives. Vivian Maier's world-renowned photographs are currently sold by the prestigious Howard Greenberg Gallery in New York City. Non-Disclosure Agreements between the Estate of Vivian Maier, John Maloof. and presumably the Howard Greenberg Gallery, allow exclusive printing & selling rights of the posthumously famous Maier's work. Maier's prints sell for roughly $3500 to $6000 at the Howard Greenberg Gallery. "Formerly a photographer and founder of The Center for Photography in Woodstock in 1977, Howard Greenberg has been one of a small group of gallerists, curators and historians responsible for the creation and development of the modern market for photography" -howardgreenberg.com. Please feel free to contact me with any questions, thank you! -------- **YOU WILL NOT HAVE THE PRINTING RIGHTS TO THIS ARTWORK** so you are aware. You will have to contact me if you want to attempt to gain any printing rights for the artwork. I can be reasonably accommodating if you are interested in print sales of the work.
