It keeps accurate time, at least over the first few hours, and then loses time afterwards and this could be due to one of two reasons: Firstly, this timepiece looks not to have been serviced for a long time and given the good timekeeping at first, I'm hopeful it will be far more accurate after a service. Secondly, I have left the watch to stand overnight and the loss of time could be due to non-movement. This watch has only recently come into my possession due to a tenancy clear out and I have no way of knowing just how long it hasn't seen the light of day. I judge however that it's been a long while. I am unable to open the back to view the mechanism and have not found an explanation to do so (for this model) on any internet search. In any event, I repeat my assumption that it looks to me that this (rare?) pocket watch is very much in need of a service and a clean. I'm not sure if the case is silver or silver plated. I cannot see any silver markings however it's possible there may be some on the inside of the protective mechanism cover (which I don't know how to open) and therefore I cannot say with any surety that it either is or is not silver. I'm hoping that a watch specialist understands and appreciates the rarity and value of this timepiece, which seems to me to be rare (as I have only been able to find one other like this that has sold) but is, in any event to me personally, a very attractive item.
