Description: Vintage Silver Rolling Ink Blotter, Art Nouveau Repousse Design of Lily, Original Blotter Paper This beautiful vintage rolling ink blotter has a silver handle; when I purchased it years ago, I listed that it was marked "sterling" on the handle. Now, however, I can't seem to find the sterling mark and don't remember where it is. The handle has a beautiful art nouveau, repousse (raised) design of an opened lily flower at the end surrounded by swirling "vines" with a lily pad and lily bud at the top near the blotter. The design is on both sides of the handle. As you can see from the photos, the silver handle could use a good polish since it has not been done in many years; there is tarnish in some areas on the silver as well as the remnants of silver polish in some of the crevices if you look carefully. The blotter has a black "roller" part around which is wrapped some vintage felt roller paper; there is not much paper left on the roll, and I am not certain as to whether or not it can still be purchased. The blotter measures about 5.5" long including the paper roll at the end; it is about 3" wide at the widest part near the paper. The blotter is in excellent vintage condition. I could find no dents or dings in the silver. The black roller at the end has several marks on it but is in good condition; the paper is stained in some places but gives the roller a nice vintage look. The roller still "rolls". This lovely vintage desk implement would impart beauty and grace to your desk top even if never used as a blotter for your fountain pen. I welcome any questions that you may have.
