Description: These vintage Shuron Browline (cat-eye style) women's eyeglasses are in very good condition. The only damage is one tiny chip on the left lens, as shown. There are no scuffs, scratches, or other damage to the bifocal lenses, and no dents, bends, or discoloration on the gold frame or temples. I don't know if both of the temples are original. One is stamped "Shuron 6, U.S.A., 12K GF", and the other "Shuron 6-1/4 USA". Both are wrapped wire, with the same design. The lenses have no noticeable prescription strength, and the bifocals are reading glasses strength. I wear reading glasses, and I would guess they are about +175. The black deco style hinged case, with a kiss clasp and white satin liner, is also in very good condition. Browline was a Shuron trade name started in 1947, and was a very popular line of glasses during the 1950s and 60s. I found some information on both of the optometrists named inside. Both served in WW2, and set up practices in Shenandoah, Iowa, after the war. The case may not be original to the glasses. The glasses measure 4-1/2" across the frame, and 4-3/4" from the frame to the back of the temples. Please let the pics be your guide when bidding, as they are a major part of the description.
