Description: This is a set of 7 bread and butter dishes. They were made by Royal Tara in Ireland, these are in their "Tara Brooch" pattern. The white porcelain plates have gold trim at the edges and the jeweled gold Tara Brooch. These small plates measure 6 1/4" in diameter and sit 3/4" above the table at their edge. The backs are stamped in gold "Royal Tara (logo) Fine Bone China Made In Ireland", and in blue "Tara Brooch". The set weighs 2 pound 6 ounces. These have been in storage for many decades. They are in very good condition for their age and use. There seems no wear on the gold. There are no chips, cracks, repairs or signs of crazing. I will be happy to answer any questions and, of course, combine your shipping. About the Tara Brooch: "The Tara Brooch is a Celtic brooch of about 700 AD generally considered to be the most impressive of over 50 elaborate Irish brooches to have been discovered. It was found in 1850 and rapidly recognised as one of the most important works of early Christian Irish Insular art; it is now displayed in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin." (Wikipedia) About the maker: "For over fifty years, fine bone china table and gift ware have been synonymous with Royal Tara in Galway, Ireland's City of the Tribes. A prosperous merchant town in the 16th century, when it was run by 14 successful merchant families, Galway is today a vibrant university city and is a very popular tourist destination on the edge of the Atlantic Ocean."
