Description: SET OF 6 VINTAGE ROYAL TARA BREAD & BUTTER PLATES IN TARA BROOCH PATTERN MADE IN IRELAND Approximately 6 1/4 inches in diameter. This is a set of 6 bread and butter dishes. They were made by Royal Tara in Ireland, these are in their "Tara Brooch" pattern. The white porcelain plates have gold trim at the edges and the jeweled gold Tara Brooch. These small plates measure 6 1/4" in diameter and sit 3/4" above the table at their edge. The backs are stamped in gold "Royal Tara (logo) Fine Bone China Made In Ireland", and in blue "Tara Brooch". About the Tara Brooch: "The Tara Brooch is a Celtic brooch of about 700 AD generally considered to be the most impressive of over 50 elaborate Irish brooches to have been discovered. It was found in 1850 and rapidly recognised as one of the most important works of early Christian Irish Insular art; it is now displayed in the National Museum of Ireland in Dublin."
