AND YES, it's free!) ****************************************************************************** 1977 original vintage STAR WARS Version #1, star-field panels lunch box with thermos and two vintage original-release (1997) Star Wars Pez Dispensers (Yoda and Darth Vader). The original-release "star panels" version #1 lunch box was a very short release, and is very difficult to find in excellent condition. The condition of this lunch box is as follows: * The "These are not the droids you're looking for" large front panel is in fabulous shape with no major scratches or dents (see photos); just the slightest of wear around the outer edges of the panel, barely noticeable. Upper right corner has very slight indentation, again barely visible. * The X-wing laser battle large front panel, opposite side, has far LESS than normal wear, two very light tiny dents right below the R and the W in Star Wars, barely visible (you can see them only by holding the lunchbox at an angle; the indentations correspond with the "slight dings" noted on the interior of the lunchbox, visible in the interior photo. * The edges around the outside all show just very slight natural wear. Very slight indentation on the upper left corner, Star Fighters/laser side. * Both the top (under the handle) and the bottom have intentional manufacturing indentations, which help hold the thermos in place inside the lunch box. * The thin side panels and bottom are in excellent shape, clear and bright (see photos). * The bottom of course shows slightly more wear, with a small bit of missing paint on the bottom left edge, but overall the bottom is in exceptional shape given the age of this 1977 vintage piece. * The red handle is original as is the clasp and are in working order. * The inside, as you can see from the pictures, is in quite good shape, just a couple of very slight dings, no rust. * The nice thermos image of R2-D2 and C-3PO has normal light wear. * Both the lunch box and thermos are dated 1977, the very first year of release (with "Star-field" side panels). It was only in release for a few months. The later #2 version lunchbox with characters on the sides was released in late 1977/early 1978, as Star Wars became a huge hit, and was in release for several years. The iconic STAR WARS brand has become part of the culture over the last 45+ years with multiple movies released well into the 21st Century. And with Disney opening STAR WARS attractions in both Disneyland in California and Disney World in Florida, these original first-year release lunch boxes representing the very start of the Star Wars franchise, are very likely to not only hold their value, but add value over time as more fans become collectors. There is a finite (and decreasing) number of this "very first" Star Wars ("Star-field panels Version #1) lunchbox available in exceptional condition for its age. This is one of them.
