Description: This is a lovely and vibrant Vintage Old Mid Century MEXICAN Modern WPA Cityscape Lithograph on Paper, by early Mid-Century Southern California Modernist painter and print maker, Aileen Worthley. I could not find much biographical information on this talented artist, but perhaps you know more about her or her work? This piece depicts a traditional rural Mexican village scene, with multiple women washing their clothes in a large communal wash basin. The two central figures, who are closest to the viewer, carry baskets of laundry on their heads, and the woman on the left has a small baby in tow, who peeks out curiously at the viewer. Titled: "Village Wash" in the lower left corner, numbered: "ED 22/28 at the lower center edge, and hand signed and dated by the artist in graphite in the lower right corner: "Aileen Worthley '55." Approximately 22 1/4 x 26 1/4 inches (including frame.) Actual visible artwork is approximately 15 1/2 x 19 1/4 inches. Good overall condition for nearly 80 years of age and storage, with some mild creasing along the edges of the print in several areas, some speckles of dirt under the glass, and moderate - heavy scuffing and scratches to the vintage wood frame (please see photos carefully.) Acquired in Los Angeles County, California. If you like what you see, I encourage you to make an Offer. Please check out my other listings for more wonderful and unique artworks!
