Description: Vintage Murano Art Glass Signed by Licio Zandetti COLOR CHANGE Frog Figurine This is a gorgeous piece of Murano glass! This frog is in really good pre-owned condition. I do not see any chips or cracks. Maybe a few a surface scratches. BEAUTIFUL! This piece looks sensational with light passing through the form, electrifying the magnificent alexandrite glass and radiating off the elegant curves and sleek flowing lines with a wonderful intensity. It came in clear glass and "Alexandrite". The clear glass ones are commonly seen but these are scarce. The company was founded in 1956 by Licio Zanetti and is now a third-generation company run by Licio's grandson. Neodymium glass (also known as Alexandrite glass), changes colour according to different lighting conditions. The glass appears lilac (or sometimes pink) in natural sunlight or yellow artificial light, and smoky blue in fluorescent/white light. This is due to the presence of Neodymium oxide (Nd²O³) in the glass. Glassware containing Neodymium was produced in several countries, including Scandinavia, Italy, and the Czech Republic. The shades of lilac, pink and blue can vary greatly depending on the glass mixture. Item weighs approx. 2 pounds 6 ounces.This item is approx. 4 inches tall by about 4 inches wide.
