Description: This is an expressive and interesting Vintage Modern Asian Filipino Cityscape Oil Painting on canvas, by early Filipino painter Pulido Sanchez. This work depicts a seaside village scene in rural Manila, with several stories of thatched roof huts, and tall telephone poles and hanging wires above. Signed and dated: “Pulido, Manila 1985” in the lower right corner. Pulido Sanchez was one of many Mabini Street artists painting in Manila during the mid-century, and works by such artists have become highly collectible and cherished in more recent times. Approximately 21 3/4 x 27 5/8 inches (including frame.) Actual artwork is approximately 17 5/8 x 23 3/4 inches. Good condition for age, with a few light speckles of soiling to the canvas, and some light edge wear, gilding loss and wood splitting to the original period gilded wood frame. Early - mid 20th century Filipino art has become increasingly collectible and coveted in recent times, as more people begin to appreciate its historic and artistic significance.
