Description: Absolutely gorgeous tablecloth covered in colorful art from the Otomi people in Mexico. This is a stunning hand embroidery technique that gives great texture and vibrance to the tablecloth. Apparently these are made by hand drawing then tracing the drawings by hand with a special embroidery technique—it is very cool how little stitching there is to see on the back of the tablecloth! This tablecloth could also be used as a wall hanging or tapestry of some sort because it’s just so stunning. Measures approximately 71”x65” in a soft oval shape. This embroidery is generally done on cotton or linen. I am having a hard time deciding if this is cotton or linen. It’s lightweight and high quality. Based on the finishing stitches and research, I believe this piece dates back to the 60s/70s when these pieces began to be sold in greater volume. Overall it’s in really great condition. There are a few loose strings but nothing too major. I found a couple light spots scattered throughout, and I didn’t do much vigorous stain treating because I did not want to damage it. There is one section along the edge that is not stitched like the rest of the piece but I believe it is purposeful as the stitching isn’t loose and there are no holes were it would have pulled out.
