Description: What a unique find! This nursery wall decor piece features a gnome and his three chicks/chickens. Per the marking in the back, it appears the piece was painted in oil and of German origin. The item may possibly be Erzgebirge when comparing this piece to identified pieces on the internet. The style, quality and subject matter do lend to the theory this is an Erzgebirge piece. Manufacturer’s identity is unconfirmed. As shown in the photos of the back side of the plaque, the piece appears to be a form of pressed wood. A small split in the wood can be seen in the last photo. There is a similar, and smaller split in the wood at the very top of the gnome’s hat. This issue is not visible on the front of the piece.
