While his designs under Herman Miller continue to be valuable to this day, his earliest works with HM are among the most coveted. This 4663 armchair was designed by George Nelson in 1946 as part of his first collection for the now-iconic furniture company. It boasts a solid birch frame with bentwood back support and a foam cushioned seat. The model number, 4663, is clearly marked underneath the chair and is still visible -- a testament to the earliest designs of Nelson. For a serious collector, this is an important piece that highlights the origins of what may be one of the most important design relationships of all time. The Chair is all original and still retains it Herman Miller round metal label tag on the bottom.
