Description: Empire Chintz Coffee Pot Dimensions are approximately: length spout to handle: 21cms (8 1/4" ins) height to spout: 16.5cms (6 1/2" ins) capacity: 4 - 6 cup This pretty coffee pot was produced by established English company Empire Porcelain Co. The pot is decorated with the beautiful pattern Lilac Time. The pattern has sprays of lilacs and wildflowers on a green chintz background. The item is further embellished with gold trim to the rim, handle and foot. Condition: Does have a hairline to the lid but very hard to see as the pattern is so busy. See last two pics for a better view. The lid is quite secure and holding well so will last a long time yet. Otherwise the coffee pot is in very good vintage condition commensurate for age and use. An occasional spot/mark... lovely colour and pattern and all the gold trim is in excellent condition. No chips, other fractures or general discolouration. Some discolouration to the interior only mainly as a ring at the bottom and what appears to be a slip mark of the applied colour. Some typical crazing as expected, most obvious on the cream coloured china but does not spoil the look of the item. Gold trims all good with little wear... still a nice item! They produced earthenware and china mainly for the domestic market. In the 1920s-1930s the company introduced a range of Art Deco ornaments and vases with the classic drip glaze technique. Further decorative designs followed in the next decade, introducing Chintz and Cottage patterns. Acquisitions and mergers followed after World War 2 and the company ceased trading by the late 1960s.
