Description: Normal 0 false false false EN-US X-NONE X-NONE Vintage DUNCAN AND MILLER – CANTERBURY INDIVIDUAL CREAMER, Clear Color: Clear Item: 340019IC DUNCAN & MILLER was one of the early American manufacturers of elegant glassware. George Duncan, in conjunction with his two sons and son-in-law, opened their first factory near Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania in 1865. German-born John Miller joined the company in 1874, bringing with him much experience in the industry and an eye for design. The Duncan & Miller Glass Co. was incorporated in late 1900. The company survived the Depression and WWII but was faced with faltering demand in the early 1950s. On June 24, 1955, the company conceded defeat, closing their factory located in Washington, Pennsylvania. The U.S. Glass Company purchased the moulds and equipment, continuing to produce some Duncan & Miller patterns at their Tiffin glass operations. Canterbury, Blank 115 A pressed pattern found in crystal and colors. The pattern was introduced in 1937, and the molds were sold to Tiffin when Duncan and Miller closed in the late 1950’s. Colors were predominantly manufactured by Tiffin, which marketed the pattern as Canterbury II. Many of the Duncan etches used this blank for some pieces in the line..
