It has the very smooth and somewhat dry hand of silk. There are gold threads woven into each selvedge, see images. From a fine importer of Japanese silk fabric. It has been stored properly and it is perfect! If more than one yard is ordered the piece will be continuous. Happy Sewing or Collecting! Any silks from my collections are going to smell of mothballs. This will dissipate with time or disappear with dry cleaning.
