Description: Outrageous Vintage Punched Brass and Beaded Lampshade with Roycroft Renaissance Pottery Oil Lamp. The lamp measures about 9 inches in height. The mottled blue glaze lamp is signed by the Roycroft Renaissance artist with the conjoined R symbol. It features the hurricane shade and hammered copper fitter to attach the shade. The vintage punched brass shade I am told was purchased in Louisiana and identical to those produced by Newcomb Pottery. It features a stylized arts and crafts motif of chased and punched brass with glass beaded trim. It is all in perfect condition. The Newcomb Pottery was officially established around 1900 with a grant from Tulane University after a display of Newcomb College Pottery had won an award at the Paris Exposition. They were know mostly for their pottery but also produced textiles and lampshades in the Mission/Arts and Crafts Style. This piece would be the fantastic accessory for any Roycroft, Craftsman, Frank Lloyd Wright, Bungalow, Stickley or related Arts and Crafts space.
