Description: Very old carpet bag purse with unusual hinged marbled or tortoise shell Bakelite / Catalin folding frame, clasp and rings for the strap. Normal use scuffs and scratches but no cracks, marks nor stains. Hinges feel strong and clasp holds snugly. The fabric is a woven tapestry style floral pattern in subdued colors with one worn spot as shown in close up picture. The handle strap is frayed along the edges. Would be a simple replacement perhaps with a plain black strap as the rings are still there to attach to. No other damage noted. The brown lining has faint mottling and pink spots, and is darker at the corners but no holes, odors nor ripped seams. Measures 8.25" wide, 6.5" tall (without the 12" strap), and it opens up into a 4" x 4" diamond or square. Weighs 4 oz. From clean smoke-free storage. Be sure to check my other postings.
