Description: Vintage Arita Imari Reproduction Ginger Jar Vase with Lid JAPAN *** This beautiful ginger jar is a production of the Imari desgins from Japan. It measures 6-1/2" tall with a diameter of 4-5/8" at its widest and a base diameter of 2-7/8". The diameter of the lid is 3-1/4". On the bottom is a sticker that says "This is a hand decorated IMARI reproduction. Therefore, no two pieces are exactly alike. Please allow for color variation * Laboratory Tested * Toxic Safe * Japan." The jar is also imprinted with a blue stamped Imari logo and says Made in Japan. Imari porcelain was made in Japan and China beginning in the seventeenth century. In the eighteenth century and later, it was copied by porcelain factories in Germany, France, England and the United States. It is still being made. The name comes from the Japanese port of Imari, which exported the ware made at nearby factory in Arita. Imari is now a general term for any pattern of this type. This vase has 4 different patterns with each a vibrant mix of colors. The lid corresponds with the pattern. The quality and craftsmanship is evident from seeing it and holding it.
