Description: This watch was originally purchased almost 3-decades ago, but never worn. I assume that it might have had only one owner when I acquired it in 1995 at a Hong Kong jewelry store. When I took it out of "hiding" a little over a year ago and wound it up, it ran but I noted that it was losing time. I decided to find a Hamilton watch expert who could take a close look at it and found Dan Keefe at Vintage Hamilton Watch Restorations, Shenandoah, Virginia.Dan writes: “I like to restore US-made Hamilton wrist watches back to their original glory and share my experiences with other enthusiasts . . . . . The Hamilton Watch Company was the last of the great American watch manufacturers. The brand still exists today but its Made-in-the-USA roots are really pre-1969.Hamilton watches were made in Lancaster PA and are highly regarded.”If you can access Dan’s Hamilton watch site, there’s a search capability right under his photo on the right hand side of the page, so search using W-46374D(use the hyphen!). Dan provides a tonne of information on this particular watch and states, “I've had my eye out for aMil-W-46374D for quite a while and for several reasons. They're considerably less common than the earlier 46374B models and they typically sell for "good money." Given what I know about the luxury auction market and collectible watches, it will likely hold and store value and appreciate into the future. But it might be more enjoyable to wear it.My price of $1,000 is based on only one other1988 Hamilton Mil-W-46374D watch on eBay at the moment. I have no idea if the watch band is original or not, but it is (I believe) the same strap that came with the watch. Whether it’s original or a replacement I don’t know, but it looks “military” and is in excellent. As the seller of this watch I must pay a15% eBay commission on the price, but the buyer's price will includes USPS Priority mailing anywhere in the continental USA and insurance for the purchase amount. PS I find it interesting that there are many military Hamilton watches for sale (not this model) that originate in Japan. US Servicemen on leave selling their watches?
