Vintage 1970's Clinton 900 Feet French Diver w/HEV Crown,All SS Case,Serviced

While no paperwork will be provided my watchmaker's service marking," SWS 6-2020," can be seen on the inside of the case back.***********This seldom seen vintage 1970's Clinton Skindiver came from the estate of the original owner, who received it as a gift for 25 years of service to his employer Wallerstein. Wallerstein is now part of Baxter Labs. Prior to having it serviced it was in untouched condition and hadn't been used in the past 35 plus years. It has a matte black "EBAUCHE FRANCE" signed dial that shows light wear and presents beautifully. The original lume, which remains fully intact and emits a quick-burst glow after being exposed to bright light, has aged gracefully. The bezel, which shows wear and rotates bidirectionally, looks markedly better in person. The all stainless steel case with sharp chamfers shows minor wear with no signs of oxidation. The outer edge of the case back is stamped "AUTOMATIC INCABLOC STAINLESS STEEL 100% WATERPROOF TESTED 900 FEET" with "NO + 952/65" followed by "14971" stamped in the center. The inside of the case back is stamped "CLINTON" followed by "WATCH CO" and "FRANCE." The crystal shows light scratching that is nearly visually imperceptible. The 17 jewels unadjusted France "CLINTON WATCH Co" stamped AS 1896 automatic movement with quickset date function runs strong, keeps accurate time and both the day and date wheels roll over as they should. The quickset date function works flawlessly by manually rolling over a new date and then moving the hour hand repeatedly between the 20 and 24 hour marks until the desired date has been reached. After recently winding the sharply threaded HEV screwdown crown 39 full revolutions the movement had an impressive power reserve of approximately 42 hours. The crown unscrews and screws back down perfectly as it should and winds buttery smooth. The movement was given a complete overhaul in late June 2020. While no paperwork will be provided my watchmaker's service marking, "SWS 6-2020," can be seen on the inside of the case back. This watch measures approximately 40 mm excluding the crown, approximately 44 mm including the crown and approximately 19.5 mm between the lugs. Case thickness, measured from the bottom of the case back to the top of the bezel, is approximately 10 mm. Including the crystal thickness measures approximately 12 mm. This watch comes on its original "PAT. PEND" stamped one keeper black leather band that is in good shape. While the outside of the original box is in good condition the red felt on the inside has deteriorated significantly over time causing there to be a buildup of red dust. There are two small loose tags which read "DAY & DATE" and "17 JEWELS TESTED WATER RESISTANT," respectively. The original guarantee booklet is in good condition with some red dusting. Although the movement is currently running strong and keeping accurate time, there are no warranties, express or implied, attached with the sale of this watch. Vintage means old and while my personal belief is that old-school means better quality and workmanship, things can and do go wrong from time to time.
