Description: "Here is a book, original as it is new, combining food and Mardi Gras in a happy mixture"....This cookbook was first published in 1952 by the National Society of Colonial Dames of America in the State of Louisiana in the United States of America, likely as a fund raiser. This is the 4th printing - the 1955 edition. The recipes were contributed by organization members and friends of the organization - all traditional New Orleans style cooking and baking. This cookbook is 196 pages in length and a great compilation of authentic New Orleans cuisine. There are charming black and white etchings throughout the book as well as historic vignettes about Mardi Gras and local New Orleans history. The book measures 9 inches in height, is 6.5 inches wide and about 1/2 inch thick, a nice, manageable, medium-small size. The front and back covers are intact with some age-related scuffing, spots, and wear (see photos). The spine is in good condition with no cracks or broken prongs. All pages are secure - none are loose. There are about 12 pages in the desserts section of the cookbook with some spots - likely from cooking years ago (see photos) - nothing that obstructs the recipes. Other than that, pages are mostly clean - no tears, discoloration, or printing. See photos for additional details. The table of contents is pictured, but here are a just a few of New Orleans' finest that you will find on these pages: - Cafe Brulot. - Caviar Cheese Dip. - Gumbo File'. - Courtboullion of Redfish. - Creole Jambalaya. - Rolled Chicken Pancakes. - Daube Glace Creole. - Orleans Club Cushaw. - Cranberry and Pineapple Salad. - Mile a Minute Cupcakes. - Apple Praline'e. - Peach Dumplings... .....And many, many more!Every effort will be made to minimize the environmental impact of packing and shipping each item.*REDUCE* *REUSE* *RECYCLE*
