Description: This vintage towel from the 1930s is a true gem for any collector or admirer of nostalgic linens and cloths. This nostalgic cream-colored linen towel measures 13 1/2" x 17" and is in very good vintage condition and is stamped with the name of the world famous Congress Hotel in Chicago. The hotel was home to many guests over the years and many Presidents would stay there as well. The hotel notes it was also once known as the "Home of Presidents," with visits from presidents Grover Cleveland, William McKinley, Theodore Roosevelt, William Taft, Woodrow Wilson, Warren Harding, Calvin Coolidge, and Franklin Delano Roosevelt as they discussed campaign strategies.The towel measures hotel was renamed the Congress Hotel in 1911. The Elizabethan Room became the Joseph Urban Room – which featured a revolving bandstand and became home to an NBC Radio show fearing Benny Goodman in the 1930s, the hotel says.
