Description: This is a fairly unusual pendant. It dates from late 1800s. It is hallmarked Austro-Hungary, Vienna. This pendant features an unusual element , a conch shell..... This pendant is crafted from 750 silver as hallmarked with the lion head and the number 4 as well as the letter A. The pendant features a lovely conch shell body in a bezel set frame. The center of the shell features a turquoise pearl and garnet; three dimensional bird in the center. It is drilled and pinned into he shell. Surrounding the frame is lovely fairly elaborate pave turquoise and seed pearl motif. The bottom of this pendant features a half wreath that sways with movement. The back of the pendant is what looks as if it may have been a locket at some point, but today with out the frame or glass. The bail is a stationary hook. This pendant is very striking to the eye with the color combinations. It is presented in lovely condition with a couple on inconspicuous pearl and turquoise loss.
